Technical Parameters

Epoxy resin thinner is mainly divided into two categories: reactive diluents (active diluents) and non reactive diluents (non active diluents):

Reactive diluents are molecular chains containing epoxy groups that can undergo cross-linking reactions with various curing agents to form a network structure. This type of diluent can directly participate in the curing reaction of epoxy resin and become a part of the cross-linked network structure of the cured epoxy resin. It has almost no effect on the properties of the cured product and sometimes can increase the toughness of the curing system.

Non reactive diluents do not contain epoxy groups in their molecular chains and cannot react chemically with the curing agent they are used with. They belong to additive diluents. They only dilute and reduce viscosity by physically blending into the resin.

Usage scenarios and effects

Epoxy resin thinner is widely used in casting, bonding, pouring, sealing, impregnation, and other fields. They can reduce the viscosity of the curing system, increase fluidity, prolong service life, and facilitate large-scale construction. At the same time, they improve operability without affecting the basic properties of the cured material. Non reactive diluents mostly evaporate during the curing process of the adhesive, while reactive diluents participate in the curing reaction and become a part of the cured material.
